Mani Nursery and
Primary School

In 1967 friends of Sri.N.Chinnaswamy Naidu, the headmaster of Mani Higher Secondary School, formed a Committee with Sri.S.Kondaswamy Naidu as President and decided to start a school for children, so that after his retirement he could spend time with children and approached Sri.G.K.Deverajulu and his brother Sri.G.K.Sundaram for permission and help in this project.

Sri.G.K.Deverajulu, managing agent of M/s The Lakshmi Mills Company Limited gave permission to construct a building at Lakshmi Mills Colony during 1967.

To construct a building for the school, a committee named “Feeder School to Mani High School Building Committee” was formed with Sri.S.Kondaswamy Naidu of Madras Forgings as President with Sri.G.Krishnan, Auditor and Sri.V.Srinivasulu, former drawing master of Mani High School as members.

The management encouraged them to proceed. The Committee put up a building with five rooms at a cost of about Rs.80,000/-. The Lakshmi Mills Company Limited added the first floor with five rooms at a cost of about Rs.55,000/-.

Establishment of the School

  • The Committee on the advice of the management registered itself as a Trust and has been entrusted with the running of the school from 1967 to till now.
  • I class of the school was started on 6th June 1968 as a preparatory school at Mani High School with two sections of 64 students. New building was opened on 20.10.1969. On 23.10.1969 all children of four classes ( 1st and 2nd class) were taken in school bus from Mani High School to Mani Feeder School.
  • First telephone connection was given on 02.08.1971. Number 35851
  • In 1967 the school was named as ‘Mani Feeder School’ and later changed its name as ‘Mani Nursery and Primary School’ during the year 2004.

  • Now the school has Nursery class and standards I to V with one section each. The school is now functioning with 7 classes with a strength of about 228 children, 18 teachers and 6 non-teaching employees.
